Stories – Brought to Life by National Gallery Unframed @ Media City

A groundbreaking immersive art experience is coming to Salford! Stories brought to life will be the first ever immersive art exhibition based on a UK national collection featuring portraits of some of the UK’s most recognisable faces in the UK including Emmeline Pankhurst & Amy Winehouse, sharing powerful storytelling with emotive visuals. Through a dynamic mix of archival footage, photography, animation, and original audio, this multi-sensory show at MediaCityUK promises to redefine the traditional gallery visit. Expect powerful narratives, stunning visuals, and a deep dive into the lives of those who have shaped the UK. L.S. Lowry’s ‘Going to the Match’ Exhibition @ The Lowry

From May 3rd

To celebrate it’s 25th anniversary, Lowry, the North West’s leading arts and culture institution is hosting a new, free, immersive experience, LOWRY 360. The first exhibition will be a powerful journey into the world of football, community, and culture - themes that define both L.S. Lowry’s art and everyday life in Salford. Developed with the world-renowned creative studio Layers of Reality, LOWRY 360 will surround audiences with sight and sounds of ‘Going to the Match.’ Embrace the opportunity to reflect on the importance of art and community while experiencing the brand new LOWRY360. This one is perfect for football fans, families and anyone who appreciates the community and culture of Manchester.

4th – 5th May

Two full days of Tacos, cocktails, sides, desserts, music, craft beers and Mexican vibes in correlation with Cinco de Mayo – a Mexican holiday in honour of their victory over the French forces of Napoleon in 1862. Hosted by the trendy outdoor and indoor street food, bar and event venue, this is a brilliant location to enjoy a Mexican celebration and indulge in some delicious Tacos! 

 

Deansgate Mews Festival @ The Great Northern Western Warehouse

23rd – 25th May

It’s the return of the popular, free annual Deansgate Mews Festival taking place at The Great Northern Western Warehouse, just above Deansgate. The festival welcomes all the family for an outdoor celebration of food and drink, entertainment and a pop-up market from local artisan traders. Sponsored by Manchester’s AO Arena, live music is central to the festival, which will welcome more than 40 talented artists across four stages, including bands Strawberry Lemonade and Delights, plus many more. Embrace the start of the summer season and enjoy some live music and fun for all the family.

The Manchester Flower Festival @ Various locations in Manchester City Centre

23rd – 25th May

Organised annually by Manchester City Centre Business Improvement District, The Manchester Flower Festival returns for its eighth year. The streets of Manchester City will be flourishing with flower displays and art installations, with a theme celebrating Manchester and other great cities from around the world. Gardeners will have the chance to get creative and interpretive with this theme and showcase their work around the city. Alongside the impressive floral creations, the festival will host pop up bars, live entertainment, workshops and arts and crafts markets, perfect for the whole family! The festival attracts tens of thousands of attendees each year and this year will be no exception, don’t miss out on this stunning event local to you. 

 

ManiFest @ The Oast House

24th–26th May

It’s time for the return of ManiFest at The Oast House! This free, three-day music festival set to fill Spinningfields with good vibes and live music. With a packed lineup of local talent across the entire bank holiday weekend, with the Oast House’s outdoor courtyard as the stage, the perfect location to enjoy live music outdoors. Pair the performances with refreshing beers, cocktails, and hearty food from the venue's delicious menu. With no ticket required, it’s the perfect excuse to celebrate the long weekend.

Great Manchester Run – Across Manchester

26th May

One of the UK’s biggest and best running events returns this May as the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run takes over the city. Whether you’re tackling the 10K or the Half Marathon, this is your chance to run through Manchester’s most iconic streets, cheered on by thousands of supporters and live entertainment. Even if you’re not running, it’s great to attend just to soak up the electric atmosphere and cheer on the incredible efforts of runners raising money for causes close to their hearts.

 

Manchester Forever Festival @ Bowlers Exhibition Centre

Step back in time with Manchester Forever – a nostalgic, one-day-only music festival celebrating Manchester's legendary music, nightlife, and culture. Expect a full-on throwback to the golden eras of the city’s club and rave scenes, with a lineup that includes some of the biggest names in dance and house from the '80s, '90s, and early 2000s. With multiple rooms, epic lighting, and an unbeatable crowd, this is the ultimate night for Manc music lovers past and present.

Heaton Park Food & Drink Festival @ Heaton Park

25th–26th May

Tuck into something special at the Heaton Park Food and Drink Festival, a celebration of artisan eats, craft drinks, and family fun. With street food traders from across the UK, chef demos, tasting sessions, live music, and entertainment for all ages – it’s a proper foodie day out in one of Manchester’s most beautiful green spaces.
