Summer Fair at Trafford Centre

The Trafford Centre is bringing even more family fun to Manchester this August with its annual Summer Fair. Taking place throughout the school holidays, visitors can enjoy a traditional funfair complete with thrilling rides, fairground games and family attractions, as well as a brand-new Cosmin Carnival.

Taking over the Orient Main Stage twice a week throughout August, the free Cosmic Carnival includes fun and interactive live performances offering entertainment for the whole family. Step into the magical world of the Out of Time Circus, with aerial acrobatics performances and live vocals.. The excitement continues with the energetic Zero-Gravity Disco, with music, incredible dance performances and plenty of opportunities for audience participation.

After each show, children can join in with free interactive workshops, learning dance routines and trying out circus-inspired skills alongside the performers. Combined with the Trafford Centre's extensive selection of shops, restaurants and cafΓ©s, it's a fantastic way to spend a summer's day and one of the best free family events taking place in Greater Manchester this August.

 

Manchester Village Pride

Manchester Village Pride returns over the August Bank Holiday weekend, bringing four days of celebration, culture and community to the heart of the city's iconic Gay Village. This year's event marks a new chapter as the first to be organised by Manchester Village Pride CIC, a community-led organisation focused on celebrating Manchester's LGBTQ+ community while supporting local charities and grassroots organisations.

The weekend programme includes the vibrant Manchester Village Pride Parade on Saturday, with this year's theme, 'No Place Like Home', celebrating Manchester as a welcoming and inclusive city. Across the weekend, visitors can also enjoy live performances on the Main Stage, the Dance Arena celebrating Manchester's renowned queer nightlife, community showcases in Sackville Gardens, and a city-wide Pride Fringe featuring LGBTQ+ arts, film, culture and independent events taking place across Manchester. Monday rounds off the celebrations with a free Community & Family Day, featuring activities including Drag Story Time, face painting and family workshops, before the moving George House Trust Vigil at the Beacon of Hope, which honours those lost to HIV/AIDS and has become one of Pride's most poignant traditions.

RHS Garden Bridgewater Summer Events

RHS Garden Bridgewater is hosting a programme of multiple family activities and seasonal events throughout August, making it a great day out during the summer holidays. Families can take part in the Brick Explorers Trail, searching the gardens for hidden brick-built wildlife sculptures while completing an interactive activity booklet. There's also a Brick Build Station, where children can create nature-inspired models to add to a collaborative display, alongside 'Buzz', an interactive theatre show featuring Betty the Beekeeper.

For keen gardeners, the Summer Bulb Weekend showcases beautiful late-summer planting, while the Cactus & Succulent Weekend features specialist displays, expert talks and the opportunity to purchase a range of unusual plants. Experience a taste of Thailand without leaving Manchester as the Magic of Thailand Festival returns to Platt Fields Park this August. Taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend, the popular two-day festival celebrates authentic Thai food, culture and entertainment, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
